For those couples who dont have the Kids or Grandchildren with them, maybe exploring what Scotland has to offer would be for you.  Here are a few ideas that might take your fancy....

Castles

Explore some of the gorgeous Castles throughout Aberdeenshire, Moray and Inverness-shire.  A few close to Silver Sands would be:

Dufftown (approx 1/2 an hour away from Silver Sands) is home to the Balvenie Castle.  Balvenie Castle is one of the oldest stone castles in Scotland and in our eyes is a must see.

Brodie Castle would be another to visit while here.  Brodie Caslte can be found on the A96 between Forres and Nairn (approx 20 mins from Silver Sands).  Brodie is a big tourist attraction in the north east and is always busy.  What with the Castle to visit, the large shop to browse round and the cafe to have a bite to eat in, we are sure you will easily spend a few hours here!

If its just a quite walk you fancy, maybe Duffus Castle will be far enough away for you.  This Castle's entry is free of charge and is popular with the youngsters for sledging and rolling your eggs at Easter!  Only 5-10 mins away in the car, would be worth a visit.

A definate must see in the Inverness area would be Urquhart Castle!  This Castle is set in some of the most beautiful scenery we believe you will see.  Urquhart Castle is situated upon the banks of Loch Ness.  Historic Scotland run the visitors center.  Here you can see an exhibition, a film show, pop into the shop and purchase some lovely gifts, and even have something to eat in the restaurant.

While your in the area why not take a tour of Loch Ness, or maybe a cruise.....keep a look out for a piper or two in the area as well!

A few Castles to mention in Aberdeenshire would be:

Kildrummy Castle -  this Castle is set in the wilds of Strathdon and dates back to the 13th Century.

Huntly Castle - is a wonderful ruin, with lovely architecture and plenty of history.

Crathes Castle - this Castle has links to Robert the Bruce and has beautiful famous gardens to stroll round.

All of the above Castles can be found on the Internet and information leaflets can be found in Reception for some of them.
